I received an email from my own email address

Spammers and scammers setup automated systems to send bulk emails

If order to have a higher chance of you looking at the email, they simply send the email to you from your email address

They will use email subjects to get your attention like, “password expiring” and “you data has been leaked”

This does not necessarily mean that someone has got access of your email account. The email header can be looked at to determine this.

Most of the time the header will show the email originated outside of your email server

This means that the scammer was impersonating you.

Anyone can send an email as any email address but only the account holder will receive any replies.

If the scammer sends mass emails out with your email address, only you will receive the replies.

To view message headers in Outlook, double-click the email message to open it in its own window

Click File > Properties.

The header information appears in the Internet headers box.

You can highlight the information in that box, press Ctrl+C to copy, and paste it into Notepad or Word to see the entire header at once.
