Webroot

Webroot is the anti-virus product installed on your computer.

In December 2019, OpenText acquired Carbonite and Webroot to expand its cybersecurity and data protection offerings

Since then, Webroot has operated as a division within OpenText, focusing on cyber resilience for SMBs, MSPs, and consumers

The system tray or desktop icon now shows the OpenText logo instead of the traditional Webroot shield.

The interface and product name also reflect this change, e.g., “OpenText™ Core Endpoint Protection”

The change in the Webroot icon to OpenText branding is a result of a broader corporate transition following the acquisition of Webroot by OpenText.

Despite the visual and naming changes:

The underlying protection and features remain largely the same.

You still get access to malware protection, identity shield, and system optimization tools.

The GUI and support channels are now branded under OpenText but continue to serve Webroot users

The icon update reflects OpenText’s rebranding initiative, which aims to unify product names and visuals across its portfolio
